Conquering Fansipan – the Everest of Indochina

Vietnam’s highest peak, the 3,143-metre Mount Fansipan, looms over the surrounding valleys, which feature terraced rice paddies and blazing green fields divided by fast-flowing sparkling silvery streams. Gaze at the layers upon layers of green ridges fading into the distance, edged by sharp, rocky peaks. The region is a home to several ethnic minority groups, all wearing their traditional and colorful attire. Mt. Fansipan and its surrounding natural luxury is the pride of Sapa town. Tour Plan

Your adventure starts with the drive to the mountain town of Sapa. The journey to Sapa will take the better part of a day, but the drive is worthwhile, as the scenery on your northward journey into the highlands is both dramatic and breathtaking. Arriving in Sapa late in the afternoon, you will check into your hotel and use the remainder of the day to take a short walk around town. This evening you will dine at one of the local restaurants before an overnight stay in Sapa.

Start the day with a journey to to Fansipan Cable Car Station to start the journey to conquer Fansipan with the world's most modern 3-wire cable car system. Then continue conquering to the top of Fansipan at 3.143m higher from sea-level, the roof of Indochina. You will have enjoyed a beautiful landscape view by rice paddy terraces and mountains covered by rain forests under the protection of Hoang Lien National Park. After lunch, you will be back to the station then start trekking to Cat Cat Village which is occupied by the Black H’mong tribe. Here, you can see the hydroelectric power station which was built by the French in the twentieth century. You will experience the tribal way of life of ethnic minorities while enjoying wonderful views of the terraced rice paddy fields and the waterfall in Cat Cat village. Visitors will also understand culture, unique customs, traditional crafts such as weaving, touching carved silver, forged agricultural tools...  Transfer back to the hotel

You will have a full day trek from Sapa town which will take you along buffalo paths and trails, as well as through several hill tribe villages. This is an absolutely spectacular walk through stunning scenery, inhabited by some of the friendliest people you will meet. Stopping for a picnic lunch on the way, you will spend the night with a family in Ta Van Village, inhabited by the Dai ethnic minority.

After enjoying breakfast, you will depart for a 2-hour trek to Su Pan Village, home of Red Dao. Then it's on to Ban Ho Village, home to the Tay people. You will stay overnight in their traditional longhouse on stilts.

Bidding farewell to your graceful host in Ban Ho and begin your return journey to the capital. You will arrive back in Hanoi by late afternoon.

You can take a night train from Lao Cai back to Hanoi. The train departure is at 21:30 from Lao Cai.
